MaryAnn Bassett, age 82, passed away February 9, 2026 with loving family by her side.

She was born on May 11, 1943 to William E. McMorris, Sr. and Florence Skellie McMorris.

In addition to her parents, MaryAnn was preceded in death by her brother, William E. McMorris, Jr.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, George Bassett; her two daughters, Amy (Mike) McIntosh and Shannon (Chad) Bonds; many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

MaryAnn was an accomplished seamstress, always willing to help others with repairs and alterations. She also found quiet joy in quilting, and spread that joy to others as she taught them how to quilt. Many people knew her from the twenty years she worked for the Charlotte Motor Speedway, more recently driving a passenger van giving tours to race enthusiasts.
