Virginia “Ginger” Taylor Obituary

Virginia “Ginger” Taylor, class of 1956, passed away July 4, 2026 in San Diego, CA. She is survived by her two sons, Erik and Craig of Orange County, CA and her brother, William of Raleigh, NC. Her husband Mert Taylor preceded her in passing.

After graduating from CCS, Ginger graduated from Ellis School of Nursing in Schenectady, NY. She spent a large part of her professional career as a respected cardiac nurse. She assisted in Dr. Shumway’s groundbreaking heart transplant surgeries. She finished her lauded career as a pediatric nurse.

Ginger was active in her University City community, her sons’ football adventures, garden club, book club and University City United Church. Ginger remained an active swimmer throughout her life, relishing her 7 AM wake-up swim and coffee group.
