On June 13th, Rich Davis, CCS Class of 1954 , of Aurora, Colorado, and Glenn Davis, CCS Class of 1960, & his wife, Coreen of Murphy, NC visited my place for a few days. A friend of the Davis’s from Colorado was racing his Hemi Nitro dragster at Beech Bend Park Nostalgia Drag Races & Car Show in Bowling Green , KY. We all went to the races for the next two days using my place as home base. We had a fantastic time at the races although our eardrums suffered mightily from engine noise. Evenings were spent eating & reminiscing about growing up on the West End of Cambridge (aka Bucktown) in the 1950’s. It’s amazing the events & people we remembered. Everyone left on Saturday with fond memories of the visit. I hadn’t seen Rich Davis for nearly 40 years. Cambridge ties run deep however & the memories are lasting. P.S. the dragster didn’t have as much fun as we did!! No trophies… Picture submitted by Paul Schneider, Class of 1959

Tom Raymond, '64 For all you Yankees fans from the '50s, and who may have ventured out to SFO, to Fisherman's Wharf, back in the day. Recall that by the summer of 1967, Simon and Garfunkel were strumming and lamenting (from one of the very great flicks of all time): Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you Wu wu wu What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson Jolting Joe has left and gone away Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey Yet, until not long ago, Joe would only reply, "Hey, I'm still here!" (but never could accept Marilyn's encounter with that sidewalk radiator grate!)

June Johnson, Lawrence – Class of 61 I hope you and everyone enjoyed your Thanksgiving. Ours was quiet because we moved south and the rest of Bruce's family is still in the Northeast. We missed them but we had our smaller gathering and had a really pleasant day with our family of Bruce and myself and our two daughters Maija & Krista with Krista's 3 fun loving boys. I am ever so thankful that Krista has now moved back to the states after living in Germany for 7 years. Our Thanksgiving small gathering is included Merry Christmas to all and a Happy & Healthy 2020..

From our dock: Mt Washington just visible, back center. I really miss the topography around Cambridge and this is similar, but with bigger mountains. We're only about 60 miles from the Canadian border so it's been relatively cool, but who cares when there is a lake out front to jump into and that's all we have to do anyway Paul Austin, Class of 1964

Caption #027 — 2020 Windy Hills.png

Randy Hall (70), Bob Brown and Dale Dearstyne (71) and Terry Dwyer (72) continued the alumni tradition by playing a round of golf at Windy Hill. We discussed contacting others who live locally, and have played in previous years, but decided against it. This allowed us to finally win the Cambridge alumni tournament for the first time. We also awarded ourselves longest drive and closest to the pin.

Caption #033 — 001_ClarenceCoulter_TimCapsule_1950.jpg

THE NEW CCS Construction of the school began in 1950, opening its doors in Sep-1951, making the CCS class of 1952 the first to graduate from the “new school”. The cost cutting, the estimating and re-estimating, and all the other fancy footwork make it difficult to determine actual construction cost. The officially published number is $850,000, but my research leads me to believe the number was closer to $1,200,000. The cornerstone ceremony was 28-Sep-1950. Gardner Cullinan, mayor, was master of ceremonies. Speakers included Clarence Coulter, BOE president; Ernest W. Bodenstab, principal; Mrs. Seth Craig, PTA president; Ken Wilbur, faculty president; Mrs. Caroline P. Perry, long-time district superintendent; and Elmer Dering, Student Council president. Clarence Coulter laid a copper box inside the cornerstone [note: this is the 1950 marker to the right of the original Main Entrance]. This time capsule contains election ballots, budgets, advertising material on bids for the school, a program, and various news stories of the new building. When the new school was originally proposed in 1946, it was designed to house 720 students, but it was scaled back in size through repeated cost-cutting measures. There were 29 classrooms, a library, cafeteria, agriculture room, board room, and a gymnasium-auditorium. In another cost-cutting measure, the Bus Garage was located on the first floor of the Hubbard Addition of the Old School By 1955 enrollment had grown to 900, with the sixth grade forced into the junior high wing and the art room became a classroom. In 1956 Eagle Bridge and Buskirk school districts voted to join the CCS District. Patrician Hall was used for some class overflow The first addition was approved by voters in the Spring of 1957 Pictures and story submitted by Ken Gottry

Caption #046 — Christmas Jeff Woodward.jpg

FROM JEFF WOODWARD: My best guess is that it was around 1967, when the Class of 1972 was in 7th grade. I have no recollection of what the pageant was about, though the costumes suggest that there was an around-the-world theme. There’s a mix of classes in the photo, so it was apparently an all Junior High production. I’d love to know if anyone recalls the pageant or can find themselves in the photo. I’m on the left, in the second row from the top, in a white shirt standing next to Tim Flynn. I think the person standing to the right of Mary Frazier is Charlie Dusha who moved to Arlington, VT several years before we graduated (and who I spent an afternoon with recently), and the person to the right of Larry Parsley is Bob “Jiltzy” Wilson, who moved away before we graduated. Lisa Jennings: 4th and 5th from the left in the second row from the back. Back row, far left is Gayle Gibbons. Back row, 4th from the left, is Judy Robertson. Back row, 6th from the left, looks like Margaret Nolan. 2nd row, 3rd from the left, is Wendy Brown. 1st row, 2nd from left, looks like Nicki Furfuro. 2nd row, 7th from the left (kind of in the center of things, with a black top), is Mary Fran Leone.
